The Certificate III in Composting & Waste Management is designed to equip learners
with the knowledge and practical skills required for sustainable waste management and
composting practices. This programme focuses on waste minimization, sustainable
gardening, and circular economy principles to address environmental challenges related
to waste generation and disposal. Students will explore key topics such as waste
segregation, composting techniques, upcycling, and urban gardening. They will gain
hands-on experience in building and managing composting systems, including
vermicomposting and aerobic composting, while learning how to troubleshoot common
issues like moisture imbalance, odors, and pest infestations. Additionally, the
programme introduces sustainable gardening techniques, including vertical and
container gardening, soil nutrient management, and millet cultivation in small spaces.
Through a combination of theoretical learning and field-based activities, students will
develop problem-solving skills to analyze waste-related challenges and propose
effective, eco-friendly solutions. They will also engage in collaborative projects,
promoting teamwork and community-driven sustainability initiatives. Upon completion,
graduates will be well-prepared to implement zero-waste practices in various settings,
contribute to environmental conservation efforts, and pursue careers in waste
management, sustainable agriculture, or environmental consultancy. This programme
provides a strong foundation for further studies in environmental sustainability and
related disciplines.
