On October 10th, 2024, MI College marked World Mental Health Day with a special session aimed at raising awareness about mental well-being. The session was conducted by Ms. Mariyam Warujina (Masters in Social Policy, PGd in Counselling & PGd in Mental Health), who led a series of interactive activities designed to help participants reflect on their mental health and foster emotional resilience.
Held under the theme of "Mental Health is a Universal Human Right," the event emphasized the importance of mental health in everyday life, particularly in academic and professional settings. Ms. Mariyam engaged staffs in discussions on common mental health challenges, such as stress, anxiety, and burnout, and shared practical strategies for maintaining mental wellness.
The highlight of the session was a set of interactive activities where participants explored mindfulness techniques and shared personal experiences in a supportive environment. These activities aimed to break the stigma surrounding mental health conversations and encourage open dialogue. The session concluded with a Q&A, allowing attendees to seek personalized advice and share their thoughts on mental health matters.
MI College remains committed to promoting mental health awareness through such initiatives, ensuring that students and staff are equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to prioritize their mental well-being. The event was part of a broader effort by the institution to create a supportive, inclusive environment for its academic community.
