MODULES

This program is designed to produce primary teachers who are well versed in utilizing the content, teaching and learning strategies and assessment methods of Maldives national primary curriculum. The understanding of child psychology will equip them to use appropriate techniques to manage children in the classrooms and cater to differentiated learning needs of children. They will be made familiar with the formats and procedures for lesson planning and the use of technology in teaching learning process. The intensive teaching practicum will train them to become teachers who embodies the highest standards of professionalism. The research module offered at this level aims to develop the skills needed to participate in research activities, to contribute to research and development projects and to make use of research conclusions in their teaching practices in their future career.

 

DURATION: 3 years

 

ENTRY CRITERIA

 

GENERAL ENTRY

 

Successful completion of Higher Secondary Education OR Attainment of a Level 4 qualification in a related field OR Attainment of a Level 4 Foundation Study Program approved for the specific Diploma program.

 

ALTERNATIVE ENTRY

 

Completion of a Level 4 qualification (unrelated), and successful completion of an MQA approved University Preparation Program

 OR

 20 years old, completion of secondary school, 2 years of relevant work experience, and successful completion of an MQA approved University Preparation Program

Diploma in Primary teaching will be awarded at the successful completion of the first year.

8.     Practicum III for Primary

 

 

Associate Degree in Primary teaching will be awarded at the successful completion of the second year.

5.     Advance Science

6.     Guidance and Counselling

7.     Research Project

 

Bachelors of Primary teaching will be awarded at the successful completion of the third year.
