The Department of Higher Education (DHE) granted college status to IIPD on 21st April 2014 and this was celebrated by a special function held for all staff and students on 7th May 2014, which is IIPD’s Anniversary Day. The new college was officially named as MI College (Mianz International College) at this launch. Most of the students and all the full time staff of the College participated in this ceremony held in the hall of Dharumavantha School. The Chairman Mr. Ahmed Mottaki, introduced the new Rector of the College Dr. Aamaal Ali and the Vice Rectors Mr. Hassan Nizam and Mr. Adul Azeez Yoosuf. The Chairman Mr. Ahmed Mottaki, Rector Dr Ali, Vice Rector Mr. Hassaon Nizam and an alumni spoke in the ceremony.
During the ceremony, certificates of recognition were awarded to students who had helped in various activities of the Institute (IIPD) in 2013.
One of the highlights of the ceremony was to finalize the College logo. IIPD had held a logo designing competition and asked interested designers to design a logo according to given criteria. From the logos received from contestants, the Senior Management identified three that the SMT saw as the best fit to the set criteria. These three were displayed during the ceremony and students and staff voted for the logo that they considered the most suitable for the College. Most people voted for the logo designed by Mr. Arshad Shahul Hameed and it was announced by the Rector Dr. Aamaal Ali. The designer was awarded a cash prize of MVR10,000/- .
The launching ceremony included a colorful performance by some of the female students who did a traditional dance known as ‘Buzuraa’.
The ceremony ended with the singing of the National Anthem by all the participants.
